Introduction

There are many games and past times of the Maori.

Track and field events were often practiced and there are many stories about the speed, swiftness and agility of runners.

Spinning tops and stilts are still practiced today.

There is a Maori version of knuckle bones (jumping jacks) that it still played by some.

Kapa Haka, or performing arts is very much alive today and teaches a combination of skills, ranging from singing, formations, dexterity, flexibility and stamina to name a few.
